Katy Perry has admitted she knew Russell Brand was planning to propose to her after reading about it on the internet.

The I Kissed A Girl star, who got engaged to Russell on New Year's Eve, told Us Magazine she discovered his plans on Google.

"Unfortunately, I still Google myself sometimes," she said.  "I saw it on Google alerts. I'm going to be honest!"

Russell, who began dating Katy in September, also spoke about his proposal during the couple's romantic holiday in India.

"We were on an elephant just before it. We were in India,” he said.

“It was at midnight, and it is not a good idea to be on the back of an elephant during a fireworks display."

The pair are expected to tie the knot later this year.
