Kristen Stewart says the costume she had to wear in her new film made her look like a “crackhead”.

The Twilight star dressed up in fishnets and suspenders to play a 16 year-old runaway stripper and occasional prostitute in Welcome to the Rileys.

Speaking at the film's premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Kristen said she was initially uncertain about wearing the costume.

But it provided a welcome hint of anonymity for the actress, who is normally hounded in public by Twilight fans.

"I was able to walk around the streets,” she told Us Weekly.

“I was literally walking down the street in cut-off shorts and a robe that was cinched. I looked like a crackhead!"

Kristen, who had to learn how to use a stripper pole, said her character was not sexy despite her revealing outfits.

"My character's not sultry, not sexy," the actress said. "She sort of throws herself into all her moves. I tore myself up doing it."

As well as Welcome to the Rileys, this year's Sundance will also see the first-screening of Kristen's other forthcoming movie, The Runaways.
