Russell Brand and Katy Perry celebrated their engagement news at a restaurant in Los Angeles with 50 guests, People reports.

According to a source, the venue was decked out in candles and roses for the event, where family and friends were served cocktails and cake.
 
Katy Perry, whose mother was in attendance, has certainly come a long way from her Christian roots by accepting the controversial comedian's proposal.

And Brand, who was once famed for his womanising ways, has packed in his bad boy reputation as the couple plan to marry later this year.

The comedian proposed to the singer on New Years Eve whilst on holiday in India. She has recently denied rumours that she’s expecting his child.
