Brittany Murphy's cause of death remains unknown but husband Simon Monjack has appeared on The Today Show to set the record straight on rumours that it wasn't from natural causes and accused Hollywood of causing her death by breaking her heart.
Murphy's husband attacked movie studio Warner Brothers for withdrawing their offer to the actress who was set to play Gloria in “Happy Feet 2.” According to Monjack, the role was to be Murphy’s big come back and the week preceding her death she was mounted with severe depression because of Warner’s decision.
Simon then implored A-list actors to honor Brittany’s passing and pull from the movie in protest. “I would say to Brad Pitt and Mattie Damon who have been offered the movie, really think about Brittany before you do it...Hollywood broke her heart.”
Monjack claimed rumors concerning Murphy’s incessant drug use and possible anorexia were unfounded and preposterous. Today Show anchor Matt Lauer proceeded to mention the investigative report which found anti seizure, pain killers, anti depression pills dispersed throughout the house which Brittany’s mother claims were taken “in moderation” and were not of concern.
Brittany Murphy, who died age 32, starred in such blockbuster films as Clueless, Eight Mile, and even took a stab at singing with the musical hit “Faster Kill Pussycat” and the cover of “Somebody to love” on the Happy Feat soundtrack. Brittany Murphy’s toxicology are set to be released in the coming weeks.
