Rihanna Close To Tears As She Covers Bob Marley Song For Haiti Quake Victims - Pictures

Rihanna came close to tears as she performed a cover of Bob Marley's Redemption Song for the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti.

The singer, appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show, gave the 1980 track a more upbeat temp to the original.

Wearing an sombre black outfit with subtle white detailing, Rihanna said she found the song “liberating”.

“I feel the people of Haiti need to hear something inspiring,” she added.

The 21-year-old singer was joined on the programme by Wyclef Jean, who has led calls for aid to be sent to the victims of last week's devastating earthquake.

The former Fugees rapper said the country was now like “seventh hell”.

Rihanna's cover of Redemption Song is available to download now via iTunes with proceeds going to Hope for Haiti.

On Friday, celebrities from stage and screen will unite for a global telethon, which will air across the MTV network.
