Kate Hudson has praised Rick Gervais' role as host at the 67th Golden Globes in Los Angeles last night.
The actress said it was “really fun” watching the British comedian, who proved popular with the audience in Beverly Hills despite poking fun at a number of guests.
At one point during the ceremony, the Office star, who drank from a pint glass throughout the show, took aim at Mel Gibson.
“I like a drink as much as the next man... unless the next man is Mel Gibson,” he said, alluding to the actor's 2006 drink-driving conviction.
He also joked about Sir Paul McCartney's divorce from Heather Hills and mocked Colin Farrell as he introduced him on stage.
“One stereotype I hate is that all Irishmen are just drunk, swearing hell raisers,” Ricky said, before adding: “Please welcome Colin Farrell.”
The comedian's performance also attracted praise from U2 guitarist The Edge, who described it as “really cool”.
But actor Mickey Rourke was less convinced, telling the Press Association that Ricky didn't “drink enough” during the show.
