George Clooney is set to host a bi-coastal telethon for the victims of Tuesday's devastating earthquake in Haiti.

The show will air across a host of US networks, including MTV, ABC and CNN, next Friday

Musicians and Hollywood stars are expected to feature on the programme, according to MTV.

Tens of thousands of people are understood to have died in the earthquake, which measured 7.0 on the Richter scale.

Meanwhile, celebrities from stage and screen have already begun to dig deep into their pockets to pledge aid.

Tiger Woods is thought to have donated $3million to the relief effort following a $1million pledge from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
