Elton John is on course to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol, according to US reports.
Idol’s judging panel is undergoing a series of shifts, with yesterday marking Ellen DeGeneres' first day as a replacement for Paula Abdul.
And now rumours are flying that Elton John could be replacing fellow Brit Simon Cowell on the hit show.
According to TMZ.com, Elton, who is no stranger to Idol, after a guest spot in its third season, could be joining its ranks on a permanent basis.
Despite being too busy “on holiday” to address the rumours, the 62-year-old diva will certainly be offered big bucks to join the hit show, as Cowell has just turned down the offer to renew his $45 million contract.
Instead, the 50-year-old music mogul will be launching the US X Factor.
Posh Spice Victoria Beckham is hotly tipped to feature on its panel after impressing Cowell with her recent guest appearance as an Idol judge.
