Rihanna and Matt Kemp are not dating, according to the baseball star's agent.

The pair sparked romance rumours when they were spotted together at a New Years Eve party in the Middle East.

They are also currently enjoying a break in Mexico with friends – although photos suggest they far more interested in spending time with each other.

However, Rihanna, 21, and 25-year-old Matt's public displays of affection have been played down by Dave Stewart, the LA Dodger's star's agent.

"I think dating might be a stretch at this point," Stewart told E! News.

"They are in Cabo, but past that they are just good friends, and I don't think we can label it as anything other than friendship right now.

“Who knows what will develop past the friendship."

Rihanna has not been in a serious relationship since her split from singer Chris Brown last year.

The pair parted company shortly after Chris assaulted the Umbrella star during an altercation in Los Angeles last February.
