Gossip Girl is back as filming commenced in what seemed to be a very cold part of New York.

Not confident enough to brave the chill, Blake Lively chose a practical yet stylish long black stylish Puffa jacket to keep her warm during scenes.

Blake’s co stars, Penn Badgley and Jessica Szohr, also wrapped up warm on set with chunky sweaters, hats and jackets.

Penn and Szohr had the same idea when it came to what colour to wear as they both went for the original black.

The trio have returned to film the second half of the third series, which is due to resume in March.

Jessica Szhor and Penn Badgely also felt the cold on-set in New York.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the third season of Gossip Girl is to feature a new drugs storyline.

According to Entertainment weekly, Taylor Momsen’s character, Jenny Humphrey will become a "drug mule" for her boyfriend Damien.
