Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole has revealed she lost her virginity when she was just 15.

The singer, who is married to football ace Ashley Cole, told Glamour magazine she had made her boyfriend wait before they had sex.

"I was 15 when I lost my virginity, but I made my boyfriend wait three months, so I am really proud of myself for that,” she said.

The X Factor judge also insisted she had never had a one night stand and said it was important to make men “earn” intimacy.

When asked if she thought she was too young when she married Ashley at the age of 23, Cheryl replied: “Not really - all the women in my family did the same.”

She added: "Before I met Ashley, I had only had three long-term relationships.

"I have quite an old-fashioned mentality and like the fact that by the time I am 33, Ashley and I will have been married for 10 years."
