Brittany Murphy, who starred in such films as Clueless and 8 Mile, has died at the age of 32.
The actress is reported to have suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday morning at a property in Los Angeles.
Fire Department officials were called to a home reportedly owned by the star’s husband at 8am.
According to reports, the actress was found unconscious in a shower.
Murphy was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1977, Murphy began her acting career aged 14 and made appearances in a string of hit teen TV shows, including Blossom.
She later transferred to the big screen with a starring role as schoolgirl Tai Frasier in the 1995 comedy, Clueless.
Murphy, who also dabbled with a music career earlier this decade, married husband Simon Monjack in 2007.
