The daily revelations about his seedy private life are reportedly taking their toll on Tiger Woods.

As the alleged mistress count continues to grow and his wife Elin is pictured without her wedding ring, the shamed golfer is said to be terrified of losing his family.

“He’s only just coping - he’s on the edge,” a source tells the New York Post.

“He sees everything coming crashing down around him. His career, his family.”

In a statement on his official website on Friday, Tiger admitted to his “infidelity” for the first time and revealed he was taking a break from golf to "try to repair the damage done".

“I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person,” he added.

As for what's next for Tiger, there are unconfirmed reports he has instructed the estate agent who found Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie their French chateau to find him a property in France.

Since the initial tabloid allegations he had been unfaithful hit, a total of eleven alleged mistresses have been named, with more, as yet unidentified, women said to be waiting in the wings.
