Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie enjoyed a perfectly-timed date night on Monday.

On the eve of the release of a new biography which claims to lift the lid on their allegedly fraught relationship, the couple dined together at La Dolce Vita in Beverly Hills.

With Angelina hard to miss on account her lime satin top and black trousers, the pair held hands as they arrived at the restaurant.

Later they were seen smiling and looking lovingly at each other as they got into their car and headed home to their six children.

One sources tells Halperin: "They were definitely in love, but that's where it gets tricky. If you want to know if they're still together, the answer depends on when you ask the question.

"I've heard that they've broken up so many times it would make your head spin.

"There are apparently screaming matches, usually with her doing the screaming. Nobody really witnesses that part of it - they just see him leaving in a huff. But then he ends up coming back again, and nobody knows what happened to bring him back."
