Sir Paul McCartney has admitted he is a fan of X Factor twins John and Edward, saying it's “impossible not to like them”.
The former Beatle said he and his family were avid viewers of the ITV talent contest – and had been rooting for the Irish brothers.
He told The Sun newspaper: "They're a great couple of lads. But let's be honest, they were never going to last much longer in the show. They had to go."
Sir Paul also confirmed that he was in talks with producers to appear on The X Factor final in December.
He said host Dermot O'Leary, a close friend, was “keen for me to do it”.
The former Beatle added: “We're seeing if we can make it work. I've been watching on and off with my family.
“Sometimes it throws up someone brilliant like Leona Lewis. Other years have not been so good."
John and Edward - dubbed Jedward - were knocked out of the programme last weekend.
