Katie Holmes upset cinemagoers in New York after talking through a screening of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, it's been reported.

The actress is understood to have bought advance tickets to the see the film with two girlfriends over the weekend.

But the trio, who were said to be in good spirits, reportedly angered other Twilight fans when they continued to talk during the film.

"Katie talked through all of 'New Moon,'" a source told Fox 411.

"It was unbelievable – they talked nonstop about the movie and everything else."

But instead of telling the actress to stop, cinemagoers apparently stayed silent and allowed her to continue talking.

"Some people wanted to tell them to be quiet, but when they realised who it was, they stayed silent," the source added.

"No one wanted to shush Katie."

The Twilight Saga: New Moon - the second installment of the vampire franchise - went on general release last Friday.

It has already smashed box office records in the US and earned over $300million worldwide.
