Taylor Swift and Michael Jackson were the big winners at last night's American Music Awards.
After dominating the Country Music Association Awards earlier this month, the singer added five more gongs to her collection at the ceremony in Los Angeles, which she was unable to attend because she is currently in London.

Taylor's awards haul included artist of the year, which pitted her against the late Michael Jackson.
In an acceptance speech via satellite from London, she said: "To even be mentioned in a category with Michael Jackson, who we will miss and love forever, is an unimaginable honour."

Michael won four awards - best pop/rock male artist, best soul/R&B male artist, two best album honours for Number Ones - which were presented to his older brother Jermaine.
Jermaine told the audience gathered at the Nokia Theatre: "He saw good in everyone and he wanted everyone to do good. He always started with love."
These honours take the Thriller star's tally to 23, making him the most decorated artist in the awards' history.

On the red carpet, Lady Gaga beat Rihanna to most extravagant outfit of the night, whilst Paula Abdul's mermaid gown needed three helpers of its own.
The night boasted live performances from Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, Jay-Z, Rihanna and Lady Gaga.
