Miley Cyrus' tour bus has overturned on a US highway, killing the driver. The Hannah Montana star was not on board at the time of the accident.

Interstate 85 just outside Dinwiddie, about 40 miles south of Richmond, in Virginia, was shut by police following the fatal crash.

Another person was taken to Southside Regional Hospital in Petersburg with what are believed to be minor injuries.

Ten to fifteen people were travelling on the coach when it flipped over on to its side and skidded to a stop near a rest area, according to local media reports.

Miley's tour schedule is set to resume on Sunday evening, with a live show at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.
