Peter Andre has revealed he turned down the opportunity to return to I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here.

The singer, whose ex-wife Katie Price is one of this year's contestants, said he wanted to move on with his life.

"I was approached by ITV to do the show three months ago, but I said no straight away," he said.

"For me, it would be like going backwards and - as much as I love the people at ITV - I am keen to move forwards."

Price and Andre met on the jungle reality show in 2004 but split in May after three and a half years of marriage.

Writing in his column for New! magazine, the singer said he was happy to be able to spend time with the couple's two children in his ex-wife's absence.

"You have no idea how happy this makes me," he said. "In terms of how I think she will do on the show ... no comment!

"The kids will be in bed by the time it's on every night, so they won't be watching it, but I'll obviously let them see any messages she gives them."

Price began her second stint in the jungle yesterday after arriving two days later than the other celebs.
