Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has revealed she warned Robert Pattinson against starting a relationship with co-star Kristen Stewart.
Hardwicke said she was concerned that Stewart was still under age when they filmed the first movie in the vampire saga in 2008.
However, in an interview with Time Out magazine, the director appeared to confirm that the pair were now in a relationship.
"After I cast him, I told Rob, Don't even think about having a romance with her," Hardwicke said.
"She's under 18. You will be arrested."
She added: "I didn't have a camera in the hotel room. I cannot say. But in terms of what Kristen told me directly, it didn't happen on the first movie.
“Nothing crossed the line while on the first film. I think it took a long time for Kristen to realize, OK, I've got to give this a go and really try to be with this person."
Tabloid speculation has been rife over the friendship between Pattinson, 23, and Stewart, 19, over recent months.
And on Tuesday the pair's apparent relationship appeared to be exposed when they were spotted holding hands before boarding a plane in Paris.
Pattinson and Stewart yesterday met fans in Madrid at party for the second film in the saga, New Moon.
