John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston are back in the spotlight to help launch their daughter's movie career.

The couple have kept a low profile following the tragic death of their son Jett in the Bahamas in January.

But on Monday, they proudly joined nine-year-old Ella Bleu on the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of Old Dogs, in which all three appear.

Explaining the family's decision to step back into the public eye, John said: “We decided it was OK to come out and promote, to introduce her to the world and to give her a beautiful future in film.”

The actor also opened up about coping with the loss of Jett, who suffered from autism.

“We’ve been working very hard every day as a family to heal,” he told USA Today. “We have our own way of doing it, and it has been helping.”

He added: “You need your friends a lot in times like that.”
