Mariah Carey: 'I Was Victim Of Emotional And Mental Abuse'

Mariah Carey has revealed she has been the victim of emotional and mental abuse in previous relationships.

The 40-year-old singer spoke about her troubled past during an interview on US TV show Larry King Live on Wednesday.

"Emotionally, mentally, in other ways ... It's scary," she said. "You know, I just think you get into a situation and you feel locked in.

“If your situation is similar to one of the situations I've been in – which I won't harp on – for me, to really get out, it was difficult because there was a connection that was not only a marriage but a business thing, where the person was in control of my life."
 
Carey, who is married to actor Nick Cannon, also revealed during the interview that she was hoping to have children.

But the singer added that the idea of starting a family was not something she could commit to at present.

Carey is currently promoting her forthcoming movie, Precious.
