Jessica Simpson Attacks 'Cr*p' Melrose Place For Sacking Sister Ashlee

Jessica Simpson has branded Melrose Place "crap" after sister Ashlee Simpson was dropped from the show.

Last week it emerged that the youngest Simpson sibling had been unceremoniously 'let go' from the TV soap, despite being part of an ongoing storyline about the death of a major character.

Now Jess has taken to Twitter to slam the show, and suggest Ashlee's hiring and firing was a publicity stunt.

She wrote: "Ashlee was too good for that show and was the ONLY reason I watched and I won't anymore!"

She added: "Who writes this crap? I have had bad scripts to work with, but this?

"Thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press."

US TV network The CW responded to the attack by stating that Ashlee's Melrose role had simply "run out."

Reports have cited the mother-of-one's poor acting and alleged diva behaviour as contributing to her departure.

"They basically trimmed the fat and made it possible for Heather (Locklear) to join the show," an insider tells Fox411.

"Heather is a much bigger name than Ashlee."
