Dannii Minogue has revealed she posed for Playboy to eliminate huge debts following her divorce from husband Julian McMahon.

The X Factor judge, who split from the actor in 1995, owed £150,000 and was unable to pay for the rent on her house.

In an interview with journalist Piers Morgan, Minogue said she turned to the glamour magazine out of desperation, despite warning from her parents.

"My parents didn't want me to do it. My dad was saying, 'Doing this is forever - you can never, ever change it',” she said.

"Kylie knew why I was doing it. I could have asked her for the money, but it wasn't in my nature.

"I never wanted to admit the trouble I was in. I should have been looking at my finances."

Minogue, who didn't reveal how much she was paid for the shoot, said she did not regret her decision to pose for the magazine

"It was actually fun and I did feel liberated. I looked at the pictures and thought, 'I look all right!',” she said.

Minogue's issue remains one of the biggest selling editions of Playboy, selling out in three days when it first went on sale.
