Robert Pattinson escaped his paparazzi prison to put in a brief appearance at the Eclipse wrap party on Saturday night – minus rumoured real-life love interest Kristen Stewart.

The Twilight star attended the bash hosted by director David Slade at the Vancouver Aquarium, where guests tucked into to sushi and drinks surrounded by displays containing hundreds of exotic fish.

According to OK! Magazine: “R-Pattz, dressed in his standard baseball cap and dark shades, finally arrived solo around 10pm and according to guests inside the party he only stayed for approximately 45 minutes before hopping into a cab by himself. “

Slade explained he was holding the wrap party before the end of filming (there are still a few more days to go) because of the mass departure of stars including Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Taylor Lautner and Peter Facinelli who have finished filming their scenes.

As for Kristen's reported no-show, one guest sniped to OK!: “It’s not like she has anything else to do in Vancouver.”

Perhaps that's why Rob nipped off early?
