Gerard Butler spent Tuesday evening "laughing and flirting" with Jessica Simpson, it's claimed.

After a 'romance' with The Bounty co-star Jennifer Aniston that seemed to exist more in the tabloid press than in real-life, the beefy Scot was reportedly spotted on a genuine date with the singer at Soho House in New York.

Despite being with friends, including Jessica's hair stylist pal Ken Paves, Jess and Gerard apparently only had eyes for each other.

"They were at a table with friends, but Jessica and Gerard, who sat next to each other, seemed to only be interested in each other and chatted for hours," a 'spy' tells Page Six.

"They were laughing and flirting and eventually left together, along with Ken."

Jessica seems to have a thing for guy's with a womanising reputation, having previously dated John Mayer.
