Tom Cruise And Suri Pick Out See-Through Dress For Katie Holmes - Picture

Katie Holmes ditched her mumsy image for the night when she attended the 16th Annual Elle Women in Hollywood Tribute in a sheer black dress.

The actress – who is usually buried under lots of woolly layers - teamed her chiffon Azzedine Alaia number with plain court shoes and a black clutch bag.

She may have been sporting a more daring look that usual but she evidently wasn't quite ready to bare all Rihanna-style and wore a black bra to preserve her modesty.

She was also without her usual accessory, three-year-old daughter Suri.

Katie recently revealed that husband Tom likes to give her style advice.

She said: "He usually likes everything, but sometimes I'll walk out and he'll say, 'I think that dress might be wearing you. You don't need that.' Tom has great taste."

Hollywood's most stylish tot, Suri, also helped out with mummy's outfits while Katie starred on Broadway, she revealed.

Other attendees at the event, held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, included Renee Zellweger, Diane Kruger, Robin Wright and Emily Blunt.
