Taylor Momsen struggled to get her long flowing gown to behave at the Whitney Museum of American Art's Gala on Monday night.

The Gossip Girl star had to re-adjust the thigh-length split in her dress on the red carpet, showing plenty of fishnet-clad leg as she did so.

But once tamed, 16-year-old Taylor looked stunning, with her trademark dark eye make-up, coupled with the fishnets, giving her look a distinctive edge.

Other attendees at the glittering event, held at the New York museum on Madison Avenue, included Shakira, Gerard Butler, Jennifer Hudson, Donatella Versace, Mischa Barton, and a very glassy-eyed Lindsay Lohan.
