Robert Pattinson has revealed his mum believes most of the gossip stories that are written about him.

The 23-year-old Twilight star's private life has become the subject of huge speculation as a result of his role in the hit teen vampire franchise.

But although Pattinson said was able to ignore most of the gossip, he admitted he struggles to convince his mum that not all of the stories are true.

"My mum says, 'I can't believe you did this', and I'm like, 'I didn't do it', she's like, 'yes you did, I know you did',” he told the Daily Record.

"It was about swearing, I was like, 'say something about sleeping with people and swearing and stuff, I wasn't even in the city'.

"And she's just like, 'no, I don't believe, I bet you did say that'."

Pattinson is currently filming the third film in The Twilight Saga, Eclipse, in Vancouver.
