Miley Cyrus has denied claims the actor and reported boyfriend Liam Hemsworth made her delete her Twitter account.
Fans of the Hannah Montana star expressed shock when her page disappeared last Thursday.
It was claimed Hemsworth, who stars alongside Cyrus in forthcoming movie The Last Song, had asked her to delete the account.
But in a statement to her fans, the actress said the rumours were untrue – and also denied she was dating the actor.
"Liam is a wonderful friend and he did not try to make me delete my page, he just helped me realise how much time I was wasting on that site,” she said.
Miley Cyrus offers rap apology for leaving Twitter.
In a long message, Cyrus said she was upset if any fans felt “neglected” by her decision to delete her page on the micro-blogging website.
But she added: ”In the end it is still a business and I do need some sort of a 'normal' life as well.
“I often complain to the ones closest to me that I don't seem to have much of a private life any more and part of that is my fault.
“How can I whine about my life being to public if I am the one telling the world what I am doing?
Cyrus accompanied her written apology with a rap version, which can be watched above.
