Dannii Minogue has apologised for making a remark about the sexuality of X Factor contestant Danyl Johnson.
Minogue made the comment after Johnson changed the lines of Whitney Houston's hit And I Am Telling You to refer to a man, instead of a woman.
In response on Saturday's show, Minogue said: "If you're to believe everything you read in the papers, then you didn't need to change the gender references in the song."
However, writing on her blog, the Australian later offered her “sincere apologies” and said the remark was meant to be a “humorous moment”.
"Danyl and I were joking about the very same thing in rehearsals on Friday, so it carried on to the show," she added.
Fellow judge Simon Cowell, who is Johnson's mentor on the show, warned Minogue against interfering with the contestant.
Meanwhile, girl group Kandy Rain were the first hopefuls to be voted of this year's series.
