Miley Cyrus Shocks Fans - And Father - By Quitting Twitter

Miley Cyrus has shocked fans by deleting her Twitter account.

The Hannah Montana star was one of the most popular celebrities on social-networking website, with over 1.1million followers.

But the teen star's account was taken down yesterday shortly after Cyrus left an unusual update claiming actor Liam Hemsworth had asked her to delete it “with good reason”.

Hemsworth stars alongside Cyrus in the forthcoming movie The Last Song.

Cyrus's disappearance has come as a shock to her followers, including her father Billy Ray Cyrus.

Billy Rae Cyrus asked Miley to return to Twitter.

In a message on his own account yesterday, Billy Ray wrote: “Miley. You are a light in a world of darkness.

"You were born “Destiny Hope Cyrus” for a reason. You can't leave everyone now. We r countin on u.”

The Last Song is due to open in cinemas in April 2010.
