Robbie Williams has claimed his addiction to prescription medication left him close to death.

The former Take That star said his dependence on the drug Vicodin had become so bad that he no longer cared whether he survived.

"I would do 20 Vicodin in a night. I was on my way out. I might have been 24 hours away from dying,” Williams told The Sun newspaper.

"At the time you don't give a sh*t if you pop your clogs. I must have been very, very close.

"I would have carried on, to be honest. You get to the point that far into your addiction, you're not bothered whether you live or die, because that's where it takes you."

In a candid interview, Williams also revealed that he regularly used Speed, Cocaine, LSD and Ecstasy.

The singer, who is promoting his new album Reality Killed The Video Star, entered rehab in 2007 in a bid to beat his problem.
