Little Britain star Matt Lucas's former civil partner Kevin McGee has been found dead at his home in Edinburgh, it's been reported.

The 32-year-old is understood to have hanged himself yesterday morning after leaving a message on Facebook which said: “Kevin McGee thinks death is much better than life."

According to the Sun newspaper, police were called to McGee's home after a friend raised concerns about the status update.

Lucas, whose 22-month partnership with McGee ended in divorce last year, was said to be “utterly destroyed” by the news.

A friend said: "He always loved Kevin despite their differences and their difficult marriage.”

The former couple's civil partnership was dissolved last October on the grounds of McGee's unreasonable behaviour.

Lucas is currently appearing in the West End production Prick Up Your Ears.
