Ellen Degeneres warmed up for her new American Idol gig by forcing pal Jennifer Aniston to sing on her TV chat show.

The actress is taking singing lessons in preparation for her role in The Goree Girls, in which she'll play a prisoner who forms a country music band with fellow female inmates.

And Ellen pounced on the opportunity to put her friend on the spot with a request to croon a few bars for the audience.

A red-faced Jen said, "They promised me you wouldn't do this to me," before breaking into George Gershwin's I've Got a Crush on You."

After talk-singing her way through a few lines, the actress laughed, "I'm absolutely mortified that you did that to me," prompting the new AI judge to joke, "I would put you through to the next round."
