Robert Pattinson's security detail is not being supplemented by the  NYPD as has been claimed.

In recent weeks the actor has been flanked by burly minders on the set of Remember Me after several run-ins with the mob of hands-on devotees that turn out to see him daily.

On one occasion he was clipped by a taxi as he tried to evade a group of fans.

It was alleged that the taxpayers of New York City would be footing the bill for ensuring Rob stays in one piece, after the police were forced to become involved.

Not true, says the NYPD.

“The NYPD does not provide security for actors,” a police spokeswoman told RadarOnline.com.

The spokeswoman added that the department will continue to respond to traffic and crowd issues.
