Bryce Dallas Howard is to replace Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria in the third instalment of the Twilight saga, Eclipse.
Lefevre, who has featured in the two previous films, has quit the role in order to star in a new film with Dustin Hoffman.
Howard is the daughter of director Ron Howard and has previously appeared in Spider-Man 3 and Terminator Salvation.
Summit Entertainment's Erik Feig said in a statement that Howard would bring a "new dimension to the character".
"The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role," he added.
Victoria's feud against Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, intensifies in Eclipse, which goes into production this Autumn.
The film, which will also feature Robert Pattinson as vampire Edward Cullen, is due to be released next June.
It will be followed by Breaking Dawn – the fourth and final film to be adapted from Stephanie Meyer's Twilight novels.
Meanwhile, the second novel in the saga, New Moon, arrives in cinemas this November.
