Rihanna's stay in the same hotel as ex-boyfriend Chris Brown over the weekend was a “coincidence”, her spokesperson has said.

The pair sparked reports of a reunion are they both checked into different rooms at the Trump International Hotel and Tower on Friday.

But a spokesperson for Rihanna told Access Hollywood: "This was a coincidence. She's stayed there before as have thousands of people."

Rihanna, who is rumoured to be dating singer Mr Hudson, enjoyed dinner in New York with Katy Perry on Friday night.

Brown and Rihanna split in February after Brown assaulted the singer shortly before they were both set to appear at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

Last month, a judge sentenced Brown, who pleaded guilty to assault, to five years' probation and ordered him to undertake six months of community service

He must also attend domestic violences courses and stay at least 50 yards from the singer. The distance will be reduced to 10 yards at music events, such as awards ceremonies.
