Ashton Kutcher has insisted Mischa Barton is “doing great” after she was hospitalised for an undisclosed medical condition.

The 23-year-old OC star was escorted to a medical facility earlier this month after Los Angeles police were called to her home.

Unconfirmed US media reports at the time claimed Barton was admitted to a psychiatric ward.

Kutcher, who is executive producer on the actress's TV show The Beautiful Life, told Hollyscoop: "I can tell you right now Mischa Barton is doing great."

Last week, Barton's spokesman Craig Schneider said she was “still seeking treatment but making improvements”.

He also said she was expected to begin filming the next series of The Beautiful Life later this month.

The show, which sees Barton play a drug-addicted supermodel, is due to go into production on July 31.
