Peter Andre is said to have been left devastated by reports that his estranged wife Katie Price has begun dating a cage boxer.

Over the weekend pictures emerged which showed Price and former Hollyoaks actor Alex Reid returning to a hotel in Liverpool following a night out in the city.

The pair, who reportedly met earlier this month, enjoyed a marathon sex session, according to the Daily Mirror.

The photographs, which emerged just days after Price insisted she was single, are understood to have left Andre “numb”, The Sun reports.

The singer, who has vowed to remain celibate during his divorce from Price, is said to have told a friend: "I had to stop looking for my sanity. She's gone back to being Jordan and it's awful to see."

A friend added: "He feels numb, all his feelings are gone now. He just cares about the children."

Andre, who split from Price in May, has been looking after the couple's two children – Junior, 4, and Princess Tiaamii, 2 – while the former glamour model embarks on a promotional tour for a new book.

Reid, who is reported to still be in a relationship, goes by the stage name The Detonator when in the ring.

He has been quoted as telling The Sun: "Katie has got really interested in martial arts and we've been talking a lot about that.

"I've also been helping out with her security - and there's not much more to it than that."
