David Beckham was greeted by a barrage of taunts as he played his first L.A. Galaxy home game since returning from Italy - wife Victoria Beckham and pal Tom Cruise watched from the VIP box.

Although the friendly match ended in a 2-2 draw, the footballer received a less than warm reception from some sections of the crowd following his 5-month loan to AC Milan.

Galaxy fans expressed their feelings of betrayal throughout the game, sending countless boos and chants in Becks' direction.

One particular area of the stadium was littered with banners, one read: 'Hey Becks, Here Before You, Here after You, Here Despite You', and another 'Go Home Fraud'.

Things finally came to a head when Beckham tried to make peace with the crowd.

One fan jumped down to confront David, as he seemingly jestured towards the individual.

The LA Galaxy star later claimed to Sky News he had been attempting to shake the man's hand.

Luckily security were on hand to defuse the situation, and Becks returned for the second half of the match undeterred.

A supportive VIP box was also on hand, as wife Victoria Beckham and close friend Tom Cruise watched on with likes of Gary Barlow, Kate Beckinsale, David Walliams and Simon Fuller.
