Peter Andre was moved to tears as he spoke about his split from wife Katie Price during a television interview earlier today.

The singer, who was dressed in a smart white shirt with black lapel, looked nervous throughout his appearance on This Morning.

Andre, who instigated the split in May, said the estranged couple had no-one but themselves to blame for the subsequent media interest.

But the singer maintained that he would not outline the exact reasons behind their separation for the good of their children.

“I have purposely not spoken it. When you do speak, you have to think long-term,” he told presenters Philips Schofield and Fern Britton.

“I know one day the kids are going to look back at everything.”

Andre has two children with Price, Junior 4, and Princess Tiaamii, 2, and is also close to Harvey, 7 – the former glamour model's child by footballer Dwight Yorke.

The singer's interview comes less than a week after Price revealed she suffered a miscarriage just weeks before the couple's split.

Andre said he “never” wanted his estranged wife to reveal details about the tragedy – and hoped people wouldn't assume it was the reason behind their separation.

He also insisted that the couple's relationship was over: “What's done is done. You've got to move on.”

Andre and Price married in 2005 after meeting on the reality TV show, I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.
