Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are planning to buy their first property in New York, according to reports.

The couple are said to be interested in the upper West Side landmark, the Apthorp, which is currently being renovated.

Jolie and Pitt have been impressed by the building's privacy and are keen to convert three units into one living space, the New York Daily News claims.

A source said: "The gated courtyard means they can get in and out of their car without being hassled by paparazzi.

"The building also has several other exits."

The couple, who have previously only rented properties in New York, are believed to be willing to spend upwards of $25million on the ideal home.

As previously reported on Gigwise, Jolie was in New York recently shooting new movie, Salt.
