Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding has described Katie Price and Peter Andre's split as “sad”.

The estranged couple, who have two children together, announced their shock seperation in May.

Harding, who is close friends with the reality TV stars, said she had initially hoped the couple would get back together.

The singer bonded with Andre and Price when she split from boyfriend Mikey Green in 2004. She was also bridesmaid at their 2005 wedding.

Harding to the Daily Mirror she would “never forget everything they did for me”.

“Whenever I was feeling low they’d invite me around to stay in their house to have a break from it all,” she said.

“Pete would put the kettle on and Katie would order in some Chinese and we’d chat all night.”

The singer said she had been touch with both Price and Andre – but refused to be drawn into siding with one or the other.

“Whatever happened was between them,” she added.
