Transformers director Michael Bay has criticised Megan Fox after she suggested the movie didn't focus on acting.
Bay told Us Weekly that 23-year-old Fox's “ridiculous” comments were proof that she still had “a lot of growing up to do”.
"You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think: 'OK Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it',” he said.
Fox, who stars in both the original Transformers movie and this year's sequel, admitted recently that the film had helped her career.
But, she added, “I don't want to blow smoke up people's ass. People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting."
In his riposte, Bay defended the movie and said Fox was just the latest in a long line of actors whose career had been launched by one of his films.
"Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in Transformers," he said.
"I like to think that I've had some luck in building actors' careers with my films."
Bay added: "Nicolas Cage wasn't a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck before I put him in Armageddon.
"Shia Labeouf wasn't a big movie star before he did Transformers - and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from Bad Boys.”
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is in cinemas around the world now.
