Farrah Fawcett, the unmistakeable star of the Charlie’s Angels TV series, has died at the age of 62.
Fawcett passed away in a Los Angeles hospital this morning (June 25) following a battle with cancer.
The actress’s partner, Ryan O’Neal, paid tribute to his “beloved Farrah” in a moving statement.
"Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world," he said.
Fawcett became an icon of American TV in the 1970s through her role as Jill Munroe in Charlie’s Angels.
Although only present in the first of five series of the show, the actress’s lavish blonde hair was imitated by thousands of fans around the world.
She was regarded as a sex symbol for millions of men.
Fawcett’s former Charlie's Angels co-star Jaclyn Smith said: "Farrah had courage, she had strength, and she had faith.
"And now she has peace as she rests with the real angels."
Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006, but the disease later spread into her liver.
O’Neal, who had been romantically linked to the star on and off since 1982, asked Fawcett to marry him last month, and she expected.
The wedding had been due to take place, as soon “as she can say ‘yes’”, he said.
The couple have one child together, Redmond, who is currently in prison.
