Fans of Robert Pattinson were kept well away from the star as he filmed his new movie in New York today.

The Twilight actor has been besieged by followers since he began shooting Remember Me in the city last month.

Fans were kept behind police barricades while Pattinson shot scenes today, although that didn't stop many from trying to snap pictures of the star.

The actor, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight, also appeared to be surrounded by a larger security presence on set.

The move follows an incident last week where Pattinson was struck by a New York taxi cab while shooting a scene.

But Pattinson will swap vampires for normal human beings in Remember Me, which tells the story of two new lovers whose relationship is threatened by family tragedy.

The movie is released in 2010.
