Madonna will discover tomorrow whether she can adopt a second child from the African country of Malawi.

The singer launched an appeal after her original adoption bid to gain custody of Mercy James, 3, was rejected in April.

Madonna, who adopted son David Banda from the country in 2006, is not expected to attend the hearing at the country's highest court.

The pop star's original adoption bid for Mercy was denied because local adoption rules stipulate that prospective parents must reside in Malawi for 18-months before the process can be approved.

The singer's previous adoption had only succeed because the rules had been bent, the court ruled.

According to the Associated Press, Madonna will learn the fate of her appeal at 10am (GMT).
