Rihanna enjoyed a smashing night watching the Black Eyed Peas perform in New York last night – literally.

The Umbrella star was among a host of specially invited guests at the private concert at the city's Griffin venue.

But her night – or rather her mobile – ended in pieces when she dropped her phone on the way out of the venue.

The singer, who was wearing a three-quarter length cardigan, had to manoeuvre herself carefully as she picked the pieces of mobile up off the floor.

Rihanna's appearance at the concert came as the pop star was ordered to testify against former boyfriend Chris Brown over allegations he assaulted her.

Brown, who denied charges of assault and making criminal threats, is due to appear in court on June 22.

The pair are believed to have become invovled in an altercation shortly before the Grammy Awards in February.
