Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie faced competition for the spotlight from all sides at Wednesday's Inglourious Basterds premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

Hollywood's golden couple put on an impossibly gorgeous display of togetherness (frequent loving glances? check!) but their big chance to dispel those split rumours was almost overshadowed by the antics of their fellow guests.

Inglourious Basterds director Qwentin Tarantino played up to the cameras by engaging actress Melanie Laurant in a little red carpet dance, whilst Sharon Stone turned heads in a dramatic black satin gown that was cut away at the thigh.

Meanwhile, Paris Hilton's 'look at me' ploy involved locking lips with boyfriend Doug Reinhardt.

And, of course, Twilight star Robert Pattinson caused a stir just by standing there being all Robert Pattinson-y!
